I had no expectations. It was actually pretty good. There was about 6in of fresh dry snow ontop of crust but if you kept your speed and didnt cut too hard then it was good. Nash first thing was tasty. A few cliff drops here and there in the morning. Then I had string from snowboardseattle show me around alpental a bit. Such a fun mountain. Excited for some serious powder days once winter kicks in. Here is an accurate description of the day (click on the pic to see errythang)

First Day of the Season
Rode shittay pass all day. Central was "closed" but brian and myself just took the crossover trail from west and hiked up the rest all day. Rode some pow, t'was good times. Forgot how much I like to snowshred. Hopefully the snow level stays down and it snows the next 2 days instead of rain like the forecasts says it will.
ps I already miss Baker :( last year I was spoiled. Can't wait for Alpental to open so I can get my gnar on though.

Pretty Lights live in Eugene!
Was a blast! We had to do some crazy detours because of a brush fire just south of salem, but we made it just in time (10mins before the show started). Once the show started I DID NOT stop dancing till it was over, ahhhhh good times. Then we proceeded to go to motel 6 in salem and got the elll crunk.
Here is some video from the show:

Chillin @ Powder MTN
last day here at powder mountain, and it is puking snow. However, Brian broke like a million bones and pulled a zillion muscles and he might be too sore to go out riding. It's a bummer, but no reason to kill yourself when we have had 4 days of ridiculous riding here in utah.
Trip report coming soon. Soooo much powder

March 15th-16th at Bake-hurrr
15th:
No one on the mountain. At all. Me and my crew of 6 people total were the only people waiting for 5 when it opened. The upper half of the mountain was super good, yet the bottom half was mashed potatoes al a carte. The next people to get on the chair were just getting on as we were trying to mash through the potatoes at the bottom.
Lapped gabls twice then got on chair 6 when it opened. The upper 2/3rds of sticky trees were super good, and there was still no one the mountain. So confused.
This picture was taken around 10am, so I had already lappen chair 6 twice. Where are all the tracks?
Spent the rest of the day doing dolphys (first tracks at 11 aka wtf?), the chute, pan face, rat trap, etc. Left at 130pm because I was soaking wet and and things were starting to get really heavy.
16th: Had to take a screenshot of the snow report when I got home this afternoon
!!!! holy titties so good. I was really bummed checking the report this morning (14in overnight) because I had a final at 8am, yet I found out while walking out of my final at 850 that chair 6 wasnt opening till 11. Basically ran home, threw my soaking wet gear together, and mobbed up to baker. Got there at 1040 aka perfect timing. Right when I arrived at chair 6, it opened. The first 3 runs were so stupid good.
First run through sticky trees made the inside of my pants sticky. So deep and the snow was much lighter than yesterday. Second run did north face to hotels (i think?) and it was equally super good. Third run went to my favorite chute by rat trap and luckily no one had hit it yet. Straight-lined the shit out of it and surprisingly didn't explode in the run out. Love having a chute with a runout that isn't tracked out.
The rest of the day I spent riding aroung the usual areas around chair 1 and ended the day not crossing a single track in chair 7 trees.
I got lots of footage from the last 2 days, but it will be a while before I make an edit. Lots of studying to do these next couple days...
I love life.

Baker Twelf of MARTCH
It was really, really deep
Got second chair up chair 1 once it finally started loading and it beat chair 6 by about 2 minutes. AKA I was the first person down canucks besides ski patrol. Holy god it was amazing. So deep that I really didn't even turn.
The whole ski area is so filled in now, it's awesome. After my first glorious untracked run on canucks I spent the rest of the day on chicken ridge and around hairy scary/dolphys/rat trap. Did some shit I have never rode before, so stoked. Basically all my video footage will be usless I'm guessing (I just got home and I haven't even watched it yet) because every time I turned it was white room shenanigans.
I love the baker

Valentine and 2/16 Pow (OMG NEW POST)
Kind of forgot about this whole blog thing. I will recap the whole season this weekend. It has been interesting. Here is a current play by play of the powder snow sport at Mt Baker we all call snowboarding.
I will have some vids posted this weekend. I am too busy with school to make any videos right meow. I will post some pics for teasers as of now. Cause well of course, pics or it didn't happen.
2/14
Showed up at 845am and got 3rd chair. I love weekday powder days at baker. First people down chair 8. High speed pow up top with toeside slashes in the nostril. Tasty. Snow was 6in-12in deep depending on aspects.
(helmet cam screenshot)
Flirted with 32 degrees all day at the base but it dumped snow all day.
2/16
The EPIC. Showed up at 1120am cause I had class from 8-950 in the morning but damn was it still awesome. Once again no one up there and gunnars/canyon was opened. Sessioned that alllllll day long and rarely crossed any tracks. So damn good.
It was one of those days that I'll never forget, because it was that good. It rekindled that stoke that I first felt during my first ever powder turn.
(helmet cam screenshot)
There was a moment during the day where I popped off a pillow in the trees in gunnars, where the landing was in an open pocket with a perfect hip on the left side with the landing pointing towards the middle. I turned on my heels, with snow flying in my face. Then I lined myself up and cranked a toeside turn and gained speed into the hip. I hit it with more speed then I expected but I pulled off the most perfect backside 3 I have ever done in my life. I just floated for what seemed liked forever, and right when I landed snow flew in my face because it was so deep.
It was one of those moments where I felt frozen in time. Needless to say I was having so much fun.
I love Baker.
